Job Description: Software Engineering (Intern)

Acorns is seeking college Juniors (graduating in 2026) for 10-week Spring/Summer 2025 software engineering internships across Android, Backend, iOS, and Web disciplines.

Responsibilities:

• Translate high-level business requirements into services and data models.
• Architect and build performant and scalable components.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams (mobile, frontend, QA).
• Plan and create new features and infrastructure for reliable financial products.
• Integrate into teams as full-time employees, taking on responsibilities like new hires.

Qualifications:

• Junior standing (Graduating 2026).
• Full-time availability for 10 weeks starting June 2025.
• Excellent command of at least one programming language (Java, Scala, Ruby, Swift, Kotlin, Typescript, or Javascript).
• Exceptional communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation).
• Eagerness to learn new technologies.
• Passion, drive, and ability to thrive in a startup environment.
• Strong desire to deliver impactful products.
• Exceptional drive and precision in delivery.
• Belief that work is tied to one’s life mission.
• Optimism about societal change.

Specific Engineering Specializations:

Android: Working on a native Kotlin app, collaborating with designers and product managers.
Backend: Developing scalable backend services for secure investing and saving.
iOS: Building native iOS apps, collaborating closely with product and design teams.
Web: Creating web applications using React and Typescript, collaborating with mobile and backend teams.
