Description: Software Engineering Intern (Cambridge, MA)

This internship offers a chance to build community, explore passions, and do your best work alongside thousands of university interns globally. As a Software Engineering Intern at Microsoft’s Cambridge, MA office, you will:

Collaborate: Work with teammates to solve problems and build innovative software solutions. Provide technical guidance to Technical Program Managers and Product Managers.
Develop: Design, develop, and test next-generation software impacting users worldwide. Apply engineering principles to solve complex problems creatively and soundly. Work with stakeholders to define user requirements for features.
Learn and Adapt: Quickly learn and incorporate new engineering methods and best practices into your workflow. Proactively seek new knowledge to improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance, driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
Contribute: Participate in real-world projects, collaborating with global teams. Contribute your ideas and solutions while working with cutting-edge technology.
Grow: Advance your career through hands-on experience and mentorship. This role emphasizes time management and completing projects effectively within a cooperative team setting.

Responsibilities:

• Applying engineering principles to solve complex problems.
• Determining user requirements for features by working with stakeholders.
• Quickly learning and incorporating new engineering methods into work processes.
• Seeking and applying feedback and best practices to improve technical solutions.
• Demonstrating skill in time management and teamwork.
• Reviewing current developments and proactively seeking new knowledge to improve product performance and consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.

Currently pursuings:

Required: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with at least one semester/term remaining after the internship. One year of programming experience in an object-oriented language is required.
Preferred: Understanding of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.

Compensation:

The base pay range for this internship is USD $5,460 – $10,680 per month. A different range applies to specific work locations in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area (USD $7,040 – $11,640 per month).
