Job Description: Software Engineer Internship

This is an Intern position (Requisition Number: 25216) within the Warfare Systems (WS) business group of HII’s Mission Technologies division. It is classified as Part Time/Hourly/Non-Exempt, with an Anticipated Salary Range up to $32.76 per hour. The role requires 0 – 10% travel and the Ability to Obtain a Security Clearance.

The internship is specifically designed for rising college juniors who are highly motivated students passionate about solving complex problems and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in relevant fields like Software, Electrical, or Computer Engineering. It offers a significant opportunity to gain hands-on experience and prepare for a career supporting C5ISR.

What You’ll Do:
As a Software Engineer Intern, you will be a key part of the team supporting Minotaur, a critical mission management tool utilized on manned and unmanned surveillance aircraft. Your contributions will directly enhance an operator’s ability to identify and track targets on land and at sea by improving the way sensor data is processed.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:
Developing and improving new capabilities for operational systems.
Supporting all stages of the software development lifecycle, encompassing design, implementation, integration, and testing.

Possible Projects You May Work On Include:
• Developing solutions to critical operational shortfalls using a variety of disciplines such as machine learning, AI, and signal/video processing.
• Designing and implementing user-friendly graphical interfaces.
• Improving and automating existing simulation and testing processes.
• Creating new proof-of-concept prototypes for cutting-edge projects.

What We’re Looking For (Required Qualifications):
• You must be currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering).
• You must have between 40% – 60% of your credits completed, typically indicating a rising college junior.

We Are Seeking Candidates Who Possess (Desired Skills and Attributes):
• Experience with software development in a Linux environment.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Java, or JavaScript.
Strong communication skills and the ability to think critically.
• A diligent, hardworking attitude and a desire to learn quickly.

Physical Requirements:
