About DatologyAI

At DatologyAI, we address a critical challenge in AI: the significant waste of training compute on data that is already learned, irrelevant, or even harmful. This leads to suboptimal models and increased training/deployment costs. We have developed a state-of-the-art data curation suite designed to automatically curate and optimize petabytes of data, creating the best possible training datasets for your models.

Our innovative approach delivers dramatic benefits:

  • Reduced Training Time & Cost: Achieve 7-40x faster training, depending on the use case.
  • Increased Model Performance: Attain performance as if you had trained on >10x more raw data, without increasing training costs.
  • Optimized Deployment: Enable smaller models with fewer than half the parameters to outperform larger models, substantially reducing inference time compute and deployment costs.

DatologyAI has successfully raised a total of $57.5M in Seed and Series A funding. Our distinguished investors include Felicis Ventures, Radical Ventures, Amplify Partners, Microsoft, Amazon, and AI visionaries such as Geoff Hinton, Yann LeCun, and Jeff Dean, who deeply recognize the importance and complexity of optimizing training data.

Our team comprises pioneers in this frontier research area, possessing deep expertise in both data research and data engineering crucial for solving this incredibly challenging problem and making data curation accessible for anyone training their own models.

This role is based in Redwood City, CA. We operate with an in-office policy 4 days a week.

About The Role: Software Engineer Intern (Fall 2026)

We are seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer Intern to join our Machine Learning team at DatologyAI during Fall 2026. In this impactful role, you will collaborate with experienced engineers and researchers to design, prototype, and deploy the ML systems that power our cutting-edge data curation platform.

Your work will sit at the intersection of large-scale infrastructure, machine learning research, and data quality, focusing on building systems that make model training faster, cheaper, and smarter. As an intern, you will contribute to real production workflows, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced, deeply technical environment and learning how world-class teams approach AI infrastructure.

What You’ll Work On

  • Build and improve critical components of our ML training and data curation pipelines.
  • Prototype and evaluate advanced algorithms that identify informative data samples at scale.
  • Collaborate with researchers to bring new data selection and model evaluation techniques into production.
  • Contribute to reliable and efficient distributed ML systems.
  • Gain experience in taking an idea from initial research concept to real-world deployment.

About You (Qualifications)

We are looking for an intern who is:

  • Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Possesses strong programming skills in Python and familiarity with popular ML libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
  • Has a solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and ML fundamentals.
  • Curious and passionate about large-scale training systems, data curation, and the underlying infrastructure of AI models.
  • Eager to learn from experienced engineers and contribute high-quality, production-ready code.
  • A collaborative, detail-oriented team player driven by intellectual curiosity.

Compensation & Benefits

This is a paid internship with a competitive monthly stipend. For interns not currently located in the Bay Area, we provide a relocation stipend to assist with travel and living expenses during your three months on-site.

Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the well-being and professional growth of our employees:

  • 100% covered health benefits (medical, vision, and dental).
  • 401(k) plan with a generous 4% company match.
  • Unlimited PTO policy.
  • Annual $2,000 wellness stipend.
  • Annual $1,000 learning and development stipend.
  • Daily lunches and snacks provided in our Redwood City office.
  • General relocation assistance for full-time employees moving to the Bay Area (intern-specific assistance mentioned above).
