Job Description
VWH is seeking a Software Engineer Intern with interests in finance, quantitative data analysis, and infrastructure platform building. This role is crucial for contributing to the continued growth and success of VWH’s residential loan and securities business. The intern will collaborate closely with key stakeholders and play a vital role in developing the next-generation, in-house whole loan management system, intended to significantly advance the firm’s capabilities.
The internship offers the opportunity to gain real-world experience in areas such as data warehouse management, web platform development, and cloud-based system architecture within a private equity/finance setting. A successful candidate will be considered for full-time employment upon completing their internship and degree.
Responsibilities include:
• Developing and enhancing web applications for the asset management team.
• Assisting in the management of cloud-based infrastructure, specifically including RDS, EC2, S3, and third-party applications.
• Supporting senior members in maintaining and improving data and modeling processes.
• Aiding in the implementation, customization, and use of loan level analytic solutions.
• Improving data pipeline and report generation processes for asset management and portfolio surveillance.
• Exploring and deploying tools for data analysis and data visualization.
• Building and enhancing graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for in-house workflow tools.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements for the position:
• A Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or currently working towards completion of a Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields of study.
• Experience with Cloud Computing Technologies, preferably AWS, including specific AWS Cloud products such as RDS, Glue, Athena, DMS, Lambda, and S3.
• Experience with developing complete, well-tested, database-driven web applications utilizing web application frameworks like Flask or Django, alongside proficiency in HTML / CSS / JavaScript.
• Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Python, C++, or Java.
• Working knowledge of relational databases, data management, and data warehouses.
• Experience with low-code application development is a plus.
• Experience with API integration is a plus.
• Experience within Asset Management or Financial Services is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver high-quality work in a dynamic environment.
• Experience in prototyping concepts and requirements and executing plans to deliver products.
• Excellent communication skills and a strong motivation to contribute.
• Ability to work in the Uptown Dallas office.
• US work authorization is required, with the firm offering H1B sponsorship for full-time employees.
