About the Job: Software Engineer Intern (Summer 2025)

Peraton is seeking a Software Engineer Intern to join their Theater Missile Program Center (TMPC) team in Santa Clara, CA, for the summer of 2025 (June-August). This is a full-time internship (minimum 35 hours/week), requiring on-site work. The program targets college students entering their junior or senior year pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.

Job Description:

The intern will be part of the TMPC Software Development Team, working in a collaborative Agile environment. Responsibilities include:

• Contributing to requirements/story development.
• Participating in software architecture and design.
• Developing software.
• Performing unit/component testing.

The internship provides experience in the full software development lifecycle, from design to deployment, within a project focused on providing warfighters with reliable strike planning and execution tools for Theater Missile Programs, modernizing and expanding beyond Tomahawk missiles. The work involves proprietary software development and maintaining adherence to cybersecurity standards.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma and some advanced level training.
• U.S. Citizenship.
• Progress toward a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
• Foundational experience in object-oriented programming.
• Exposure to software engineering processes.
• Hands-on programming experience (coursework and/or internships).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Adaptability and ability to learn new technologies.
• Self-motivation, independence, attention to detail, and teamwork skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:

3.0 GPA or higher.
Exposure to Agile software development processes.
Familiarity with web development frameworks and/or database technologies.

Compensation: $22/hour
