Job Description:

The Lockheed Martin Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) seeks software engineers passionate about developing autonomous systems. This role involves applying software principles to create solutions enhancing complex system sustainment and future hyper-battlespace capabilities.

The position offers involvement in diverse projects throughout Summer 2025, encompassing both short-term sprints (rapid prototyping) and longer-term engagements (integration and prototype maturation). The successful candidate will join a small, innovative team supporting major projects, leveraging AI to advance state-of-the-art technologies across multiple Lines of Business.

Key Responsibilities: The selected candidate will focus on development, integration, and testing across the entire system development lifecycle. This includes requirements generation, system and software design, implementation, integration, and flight testing. Exposure to Artificial Intelligence is guaranteed, with opportunities for learning, personal development, and experimentation in this field.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Rising college freshman or current college student.
• Coding ability in Python or C++.
• Calculus or other advanced mathematics courses.
• Familiarity with algorithms.

Desired Skills:

• Intermediate coding ability in Python or C++.
• AP or IB Calculus or other advanced mathematics courses.
• Intermediate familiarity with algorithms.
• Experience in robotics.
• Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs).

Work Location and Schedule:

The position is based in Shelton, CT, but allows for occasional remote work or work from other Lockheed Martin facilities. A 4×10-hour day schedule (3 days off per week) is offered. Lockheed Martin supports various alternate work schedules for added flexibility.
