Job Description: Software Engineer

Oklo is seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and deployment of advanced fission power technology. While a nuclear background isn’t mandatory, a strong aptitude for learning and a curious mind are essential. This is a fast-paced startup environment where you’ll handle a diverse range of challenges related to reactor design and analysis.

Responsibilities: This role may involve:

Data Management: Transforming and optimizing the storage of reactor data and physics results.
CI/CD Pipelines: Designing and configuring CI/CD pipelines for executing multiphysics analyses.
Tool Development: Building tools for reactor engineers to visualize, compare, and evaluate reactor designs and their associated physics.
Simulation Integration: Integrating simulation tools into existing analysis pipelines.
Physics Kernel Development: Implementing physics kernels to address unresolved problems or enhance the performance of existing models.
Reactor Optimization: Developing high-level reactor optimization schemes and statistical experiments to guide design modifications.
Process Improvement: Identifying and improving process-related inefficiencies in reactor design through software solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent experience.
3+ years of work experience.
Fluency in Python.
Proficiency in Git.
Experience with CI/CD.

Bonus Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Rust
• Proficiency in Typescript/Javascript (especially Svelte)
• Experience in growing small software organizations
• Experience working with large data collection pipelines
• Experience with optimization, statistics, and design of experiments
• Knowledge of GitLab CI/CD
• Prior work developing and implementing software quality assurance programs and testing, especially in quality-focused industries
• Curiosity and passion for nuclear power, closing the nuclear fuel cycle, and sustainable energy generation

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary range: $80,000-$155,000. Additional benefits include flexible time off, equity, competitive pay, 401k, health insurance, FSA, flexible work hours, and other benefits.
