Job Description: Software Engineer
This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and requires a commitment to safe and repeatable spaceflight. The role applies standard engineering knowledge to develop code for various aspects of space vehicle software. This includes:
• Analysis, design, development, testing, verification, release, and operations of engineering system software. This encompasses a broad range of software types, depending on the career path.
• Requirement analysis and documentation of technical specifications.
• Coding, reviewing, and debugging. The engineer will develop code for Finite Element Analysis (FEA), using mathematical calculations, models, and simulations to understand and predict the behavior of objects under various conditions.
• Creation of distinct code for exclusive purposes or users, providing custom configuration and solutions (note: this does *not• involve customizing or configuring commercially available software).
Projects may include: avionics software, embedded software, enterprise software, integrated system test, controls, machine learning, robotics, and avionics hardware. Specific duties are subject to business unit objectives.
Location: The position is available at several locations: Kent, WA; Van Horn, TX; Cape Canaveral, FL; Huntsville, AL; Los Angeles, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Denver, CO; Washington, DC. The Van Horn, TX location offers additional financial incentives (living allowance and relocation assistance) for eligible employees who permanently relocate or spend at least 50% of their time there.
Qualifications:
• Successfully completed a Blue Origin internship in 2024.
• Enrolled in or recently graduated from college or university.
• Able to start full-time on or before September 2025.
• Minimum B.S. degree in physics, aerospace engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a similar discipline.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs.
• Self-driven, able to seek out requirements with minimal direction.
• Strong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for Blue Origin’s mission and a strong desire to learn and improve.
• U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status required.
Desired Qualifications:
• M.S. degree in computer science, computer engineering, aerospace, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering.
Compensation: Compensation ranges vary by location. Examples provided are: CA and WA: $93,870.00-$131,418.00; CO: $86,047.50-$120,466.50. Other locations may differ.
