Description: Software Engineer

This position will directly impact the history of space exploration, requiring commitment and detailed attention to safe and repeatable spaceflight. The successful candidate will apply standard engineering knowledge to develop code for various aspects of software engineering systems. Responsibilities include:

Analysis, Design, Development, Test, Verification, Release, and Operations: Developing code for engineering systems.
Requirement Analysis and Documentation: Conducting requirements analysis and documenting technical specifications.
Code Writing, Review, and Debugging: Writing, reviewing, and debugging code.
Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Developing code for FEA using mathematical calculations, models, and simulations to analyze object behavior under various physical conditions.
Custom Software Development: Creating distinct code for exclusive purposes or users, providing custom configuration and solutions (excluding customization and configuration of commercial software).

Project Areas (depending on career path):

The role may involve various aspects of applied software development, including:

• Avionics software
• Embedded software
• Enterprise software
• Integrated system test
• Controls
• Machine learning
• Robotics
• Avionics hardware

Specific duties are subject to business unit objectives.

Currently pursuings:

• Successfully completed a Blue Origin internship in 2024.
• Enrolled or recently graduated college/university student.
• Ability to start full-time on or before September 2025.
• Minimum B.S. degree in physics, aerospace engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a similar discipline.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs.
• Self-driven with the ability to seek out requirements with minimal direction.
• Strong written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Passion for Blue Origin’s mission and a strong desire to continuously learn and improve.
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired Currently pursuings:

• M.S. degree in computer science, computer engineering, aerospace, electrical engineering, or mechanical engineering.

Location: Multiple locations including Kent, WA; Van Horn, TX; Cape Canaveral, FL; Huntsville, AL; Los Angeles, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Denver, CO; Washington, DC. Van Horn, TX offers additional financial incentives (living allowance and relocation assistance) for eligible employees who permanently relocate or travel there at least 50% of the time.
