Job Description: Software Developer Intern

Role Title: Software Developer Intern

Employer: Sandhills Global

Compensation: $25/hour

Location: Requires the ability to commute when scheduled to the local office.

Key Responsibilities & Learning Opportunities:

Initial Training: Interns are placed in a dedicated developer training department. Here, you will undergo a series of tasks designed to familiarize you with the company’s processes, procedures, and tech stack.
Software Development: You will be involved in maintaining, upgrading, and creating new software to meet business needs. This can encompass a broad range of tasks including front-end web development, back-end business logic changes, or database work.
Team Integration: Upon completion of the initial training, interns are placed within an agile team. This placement is determined by your skills and the company’s needs.
Collaborative Work: As part of an agile team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with colleagues to develop real-world software. This software may serve various purposes, such as improving operational efficiency within the company, developing services sold to customers, or working on public websites that receive millions of monthly users.
Additional Duties: You will also assume other duties as assigned.

Technology Stack & Tools:

Primary Technologies: The company’s core applications utilize .NET, SQL Server, and Web APIs.
Primary Coding Languages: C# is the primary coding language used for all new projects. Many mature systems are written in VB (Visual Basic), which interns may be involved in maintaining.
Front-End Frameworks: Experience will be gained with front-end frameworks such as JavaScript, jQuery, and React.js.
Other Languages (Project Specific): While a Microsoft shop, smaller, project-specific areas may utilize other languages and technologies such as PHP, Swift, Objective C, and Java.
Helpful Experience: Previous experience with Docker, Jenkins, and Python can be beneficial.
