Job Description, Detailed

This position is for an individual to join the Advanced Design Tools team at GE Aerospace.

Team Mission: The Advanced Design Tools team collaborates with engineering teams across GE Aerospace with the primary goal of enhancing productivity. They achieve this by developing and maintaining a diverse range of software engineering solutions.
Current Portfolio & Tech Stack: The team’s current work encompasses a wide variety of software solutions, including:
Solution Types: Services, web applications, desktop applications, and APIs.
Broad Tech Stack: Java, Python, C/C++, C#, Qt, Kotlin, Fortran, Matlab, APDL, Angular, Vue, Dockers, Kubernets, MySQL, Postgress, Spring, and various other technologies and hosting types.
Role Purpose: The team is seeking motivated individuals with a genuine interest and passion for software development. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, utilizing Agile/Scrum methodologies, to design, build, and maintain software solutions that deliver significant business impact.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design, build, test, and maintain software engineering solutions.
• Receive guidance and coaching from technical leaders within the team.
• Apply software development best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Must be a university student with at least 1 year remaining until graduation.
• Concentration in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer/Information Science, Electronics, or Telecommunication is required.
• Must demonstrate curiosity and a genuine passion for a career in IT.
• Possess experience with at least one object-oriented programming language, such as C/C++, Python, Java, or any other.
• Possess good communication skills in both English and Spanish.
Desired Characteristics:
• Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies.
• Experience with front-end technologies.
• Experience with source code control systems (e.g., Git/Github).
