Job Title: Social Work Internship – Behavioral Health Internship Stark County

The National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP) is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals for our Behavioral Health Internship in Stark County. This is an exceptional opportunity for students to gain invaluable hands-on experience within a dynamic behavioral health setting.

Internship Periods:

  • Summer, 2026
  • Fall, 2026

About the Role:
As a Social Work Intern with our Behavioral Health team, you will work closely with youth, families, foster parents, and community partners. This role focuses on providing advocacy and support to our IHBT (Intensive Home-Based Treatment) clients. You will also have the unique opportunity to observe various other therapeutic areas throughout the agency, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the communities and clients we serve.

Key Internship Experiences and Responsibilities May Include:

  • Coordinating and monitoring services for youth and families in the community, encompassing mental health, medical, educational, psychological, vocational, and social services.
  • Regularly reviewing and modifying youth-based plans to ensure consistent progress and achievement of written plan goals.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with assigned foster parents and families of origin.
  • Assisting in family reunification and/or stabilization efforts with the youth’s primary family or other permanent living arrangements consistent with the youth’s case plan.
  • Providing safety assessment, crisis response, and behavioral stabilization services as required to ensure the safety and stability of youth served.
  • Actively participating in the weekly supervision process to enhance learning and professional development.
  • Proficient use of technology, including desktop and laptop computers, smartphones, tablets, and software (word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs).

Minimum Qualifications and Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled in either a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or Master of Social Work (MSW) Program from an accredited College or University.
  • An internship or field placement must be a requirement by your academic institution.
  • Upon successful completion of the internship, the individual must receive credit toward their pursued degree.
  • Must be 21 years of age at the start of the internship.
  • LSW or SWT licensure required for Master-level interns.

Driving and Vehicle Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Access to reliable personal transportation.
  • A good driving record.
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability.
