Organization: National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP)

About the Internship:
The National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP) is actively seeking motivated individuals for Social Work Internship positions within our Mental and Behavioral Health team. These invaluable internships are available for the Summer, 2026 and Fall, 2026 terms.
As an intern with NYAP, you will gain comprehensive hands-on experience, working closely with youth, their families, foster parents, and various community partners. Your role will involve providing essential advocacy and support to those we serve. Furthermore, you will have the unique opportunity to rotate into other departments within our agency, allowing you to develop a more complete and holistic understanding of NYAP’s mission and diverse services.
Who Should Apply:
This opportunity is specifically designed for students currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or Master of Social Work (MSW) Program from an accredited College or University.

Your Internship Experience May Include:
- Coordinating and monitoring services for youth and families in the community, encompassing mental health, medical, educational, psychological, vocational, and social services.
- Regularly reviewing and modifying youth-based plans to ensure consistent progress and successful achievement of written plan goals.
- Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with assigned foster parents and families of origin.
- Assisting in family reunification and/or stabilization efforts with the youth’s primary family or other permanent living arrangements consistent with the youth’s case plan.
- Providing safety assessment, crisis response, and behavioral stabilization services as required to assure safety and stability for youth served.
- Actively participating in the weekly supervision process.
- Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled in either a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or Master of Social Work (MSW) Program from an accredited College or University.
- An internship or field placement must be a requirement by your academic institution.
- Upon the completion of the internship, the individual must receive academic credit toward their pursued degree.
- Must be 21 years of age at the start of the internship.
- LSW or SWT licensure required for master-level interns.
Driving and Vehicle Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license.
- Reliable personal transportation.
- Good driving record.
- Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability.
