Location: 100% Remote

Pay: $15/hour

Commitment:

  • Now – April: 10 hours/week
  • May – August: 15–20 hours/week

Umoja Outreach Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to uniting and empowering the Muslim community across North America. We use sports, mentorship, and education to build intergenerational bonds.

The Heart of Our Work

Umoja Games is the largest annual Muslim soccer experience in North America. It’s more than a tournament – it’s a massive community festival bringing together hundreds of families. As our intern, you will be the digital heartbeat of the build-up to this exciting event.

The Role

We are seeking a creative, high-energy Social Media & Outreach Intern to help us scale our impact. This is a 100% remote role where you will manage our digital presence, drive outreach for Umoja Games, and engage directly with our partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Social Media Management: Own the strategy and execution for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok. You’ll create Reels, write captions, and stay ahead of trends to keep our community engaged.
  • Games Outreach: Lead the charge for our flagship event by managing outreach and fundraising campaigns on our GiveButter platform, executing email outreach, and handling social media DMs to recruit teams and donors.
  • Partner Relations: Virtually meet with interested partners, sponsors, and community leaders to share Umoja’s mission and facilitate new collaborations.
  • Community Engagement: Actively monitor and respond to our community across all digital channels to foster a sense of belonging.

Qualifications

  • Platform Expert: You know how to tailor content specifically for TikTok vs. LinkedIn.
  • Strong Communicator: You are comfortable in front of a camera for social content and professional in an email thread with sponsors.
  • Self-Starter: You thrive in a remote environment and can manage your own deadlines.
  • Passionate: You care about sports, faith, and community building.
  • Passion for Community: An interest in sports-based youth development or community building is highly preferred.
  • Independent Worker: Since this role is remote, you must be disciplined, organized, and comfortable working via Slack, Zoom, and other digital tools.
