Dark Heaven is a Chicago-based event collective and record label deeply rooted in techno and house music culture. We specialize in curating intimate, high-energy dance floor experiences, releasing forward-thinking electronic music, and documenting underground artists through long-form DJ sets and compelling visual storytelling. A core part of our brand is KALEIDOSCOPE, an ongoing video mix series that showcases underground artists through immersive long-form performances and captivating visual environments.

The Opportunity: Social Media Marketing Intern

We are seeking a dynamic Social Media Marketing Intern to significantly enhance Dark Heaven’s digital footprint, with a primary emphasis on TikTok and YouTube Shorts. This hands-on role revolves around the creation, editing, and scheduling of daily short-form video content, drawn from our KALEIDOSCOPE series, record label releases, and event footage. You’ll have the creative freedom to experiment extensively with formats, pacing, hooks, and diverse visual styles, with a mandate to analyze performance, understand what resonates, and iterate on your strategy. This is a creative, fast-paced position offering substantial ownership and significant room for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit and Schedule daily short-form videos for TikTok, YouTube (Shorts), and other relevant social media platforms.
• Create compelling content utilizing footage from:
  • KALEIDOSCOPE video mix series
  • Record label releases
  • Exclusive event footage
• Experiment continuously with creative elements, including:
  • Cuts, pacing, and visual rhythm
  • Engaging hooks, captions, and platform-specific formats
  • Graphic overlays, typography, and unique visual treatments
• Track performance metrics, analyze results, and adapt content style and strategy based on data-driven insights.
• Support Instagram content as a secondary but important platform.
• Assist with on-site content capture at events when opportunities arise.

What We’re Looking For

• A solid understanding of TikTok and YouTube’s short-form content ecosystem and best practices.
• A genuine passion for developing social media campaigns and meticulously tracking metrics for growth.
• A strong interest in techno, house, and electronic music culture is essential.
• Proven experience in video editing using software such as CapCut, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, etc.
• Graphic design skills are a huge plus (e.g., Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects).
• Possession of strong creative instincts combined with a willingness to experiment and iterate.
• Highly organized and consistent, capable of adhering to daily posting schedules.
• Chicago-based (preferred) for potential on-site event support.

Bonus Points (Not Required, but a definite advantage)

• Demonstrated experience in growing a music or culture-focused social account.
• Proficiency in motion graphics or visual effects.
• Actively engaged on Reddit (huge plus).
