Job Description:

The University of Utah’s College of Education is seeking a Social Media Intern to work up to 19 hours per week. This is a part-time, non-benefited student position located on the University of Utah campus in Salt Lake City, UT. The pay rate is $16.50 – $18.00 per hour.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Coordination: Manage daily social media activities, ensuring schedules are maintained and deadlines are met. Monitor the status of assigned tasks and ensure all work is appropriately reviewed before publishing.
Social Media Publishing: Execute approved deliverables through publishing workflows. Ensure posts are accurate and published as planned on designated platforms, including occasional weekend and evening work.
Community Management: Engage with the College of Education’s social media community by responding to comments, questions, replies, DMs, and tags. Troubleshoot inappropriate content by hiding and deleting comments. Use excellent grammar skills and authentic brand voice to participate in social media conversations.
Platform Management: Manage the College of Education’s social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter) professionally and consistently.
Content Creation: Create original written and graphic content for social media posting that corresponds to the overall marketing strategy.
Collaboration: Work closely with the graphic design team and support and strategize with all teams throughout the college to amplify various projects and updates.
Content Calendar: Manage and edit the social media content calendar.
Brand Alignment: Maintain brand quality and alignment across all social media posts and post content in a timely manner in accordance to the scheduled deadlines.
Campaign Support: Lead and/or assist with creating social media campaigns for various projects.
On-Camera Presence: Be comfortable in front of the camera acting as “host” when needed.

Requirements:

• Must be a current University of Utah student.
• Must be able to work 20 hours per week for a minimum of 2 semesters.
• Must be involved and participate in weekly Social Media meetings.
• Ability to work both in office at the University of Utah and remotely.

Preferences:

• Currently an enrolled University of Utah undergraduate student with more than two semesters before graduation.
• An interest in social media strategy, marketing, and social impact projects.
• Previous professional work experience in social media/marketing preferred but not required.
• Ability to work as part of a broader team and independently.
• Able to manage multiple deadlines and projects in collaboration with team members.
• Effective communicator across different platforms.
