While remote, team members are expected to be available during standard business hours (8-5 in their respective time zones), with occasional travel required for events and trade shows.

Job Description: Social Media Intern (Remote)

This 15-hour-per-week internship runs during the Fall/Winter semester (September-January). Successful interns may be offered subsequent internship sessions. The role is far from purely administrative; it’s designed to provide comprehensive experience in the fundamentals of PR and social media marketing. Timely communication, deadline adherence, and proactive engagement with the team are crucial.

Responsibilities include:

Social Media Strategy & Content Management: Developing expertise in social media strategy and content management, assisting with the design, execution, and management of social media content across various platforms; building weekly and monthly editorial calendars; and ensuring consistent brand messaging.
Content Creation: Creating and distributing various content formats including GIFs, infographics, videos, and photos; designing graphics; producing short-form videos (Reels, TikToks); writing engaging social media captions; assisting with photo/video shoots.
Community Management: Monitoring social media comments and posts, engaging with followers, identifying and flagging relevant posts (mentions, tags); tracking engagement and utilizing social listening to identify trends; actively participating in community management, including responding to comments and DMs, and searching for user-generated content (UGC).
Creative Brainstorming & Ideation: Contributing to brainstorming sessions for social media campaigns and content; conducting social media research on competitors and the broader landscape; suggesting new engagement strategies; brainstorming ideas for original content.
Maintenance of Social Media Links: Compiling product links for social posts; requesting attribution links from partners; managing and updating “link in bio” sections across social media platforms.

Requirements:

• Rising sophomore, junior, or senior.
Previous social media marketing internship experience is required.
• 3.0 GPA or above.
• Commitment to at least 15 hours per week during standard business hours (8-5 in your time zone).
• Excellent writing skills.
• Strong affinity and familiarity with social media platforms; active social media user; passion for social media trends.
• Strong organizational abilities.
• Professional demeanor and a strong work ethic.
• Eagerness to learn and willingness to ask questions.
• Resourceful attitude and keen attention to detail.

Additional Notes: Interns must verify eligibility for college credit through their university’s career center, though credit is not required to be considered. A $250 monthly stipend is offered to cover expenses related to using personal devices (cell phone, computer, and internet) for work.
