While remote, team members are expected to be available during regular business hours (8-5 in their time zone), with occasional travel required for events and trade shows. Job Description: Social Media Intern (Remote)
Brilliant offers two internship sessions annually – Summer/Fall (June-December) and Winter/Spring (January-May). Interns often participate in multiple sessions, with active interns receiving priority for future placements. This internship offers substantial hands-on experience, going beyond basic administrative tasks. Interns are fully integrated into the team, gaining a comprehensive understanding of PR operations. Timely completion of tasks, responsive communication, and proactive engagement are crucial.
Potential Responsibilities Include:
• Social Media Strategy and Content Management: Developing expertise in social media strategy and content management; assisting in the design, execution, and management of content across platforms; building weekly and monthly editorial calendars; and ensuring consistent brand messaging.
• Content Creation: Creating and distributing content (GIFs, infographics, videos, photos); supporting the creative process through graphic design and short-form video production (Reels, TikToks); creating compelling graphics and captions; assisting with photo/video shoots.
• Community Management: Monitoring social media comments, engaging with followers, identifying and flagging relevant posts; tracking engagement and utilizing social listening to identify trends; actively participating in community management, responding to comments and DMs, and searching for user-generated content (UGC).
• Creative Brainstorming and Ideation: Contributing to brainstorming sessions, suggesting social media campaigns and content; conducting social media research on competitors and the broader landscape to provide recommendations; brainstorming original content ideas; and suggesting engagement strategies.
• Maintenance of Social Media Links: Compiling product links for social posts; requesting attribution links from partners; managing and updating “link in bio” sections across platforms.
Requirements:
• Rising sophomore, junior, or senior.
• Previous social media marketing internship experience required.
• 3.0 GPA or above.
• Commitment of at least 15 hours per week during business hours (8-5 in intern’s time zone).
• Excellent writing skills.
• Strong familiarity and active usage of social media platforms; passion for social media and awareness of trends.
• Strong organizational abilities.
• Professional demeanor and drive to succeed.
• Eagerness to learn and willingness to ask questions.
• Resourceful attitude and keen attention to detail.
Additional Information:
Before applying, interns should verify eligibility for college credit through their university’s career center (although credit hours aren’t mandatory). Brilliant offers a $250 monthly reimbursement for use of personal cell phone, computer, and internet.
