Job Description: Social Media Intern

This is an unpaid, volunteer internship opportunity, which may be utilized for course credit.

Purpose of the Role:
The Social Media Intern will join the Development Department to contribute creative and innovative ideas towards achieving the mission of The Salvation Army. The intern will be instrumental in developing and implementing marketing strategies, collaborating with both the marketing and development teams. A primary focus will be overseeing the social media profiles for the entire North & South Carolina division, with the goal of enhancing communication efforts. This internship is designed to equip the individual with valuable communication skills and a comprehensive understanding of various marketing strategies and business communication.

Key Responsibilities:

Social Media Monitoring: Actively monitor social media accounts specific to The Salvation Army’s North & South Carolina Division.
Content Posting: Utilize Sendible and the provided content calendar to post corporate assets for various commands within the division.
Content Creation: Develop engaging social media content, including reels and stories.
Trend Analysis: Stay informed on current social media trends and provide recommendations for the organization’s participation.
Administrative Support: Assist the development team with various administrative tasks.
Marketing Campaign Organization: Help in organizing and coordinating marketing campaigns.
Digital Marketing Assistance: Support the team in the development of digital marketing campaigns.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

• A strong desire to learn coupled with a professional drive.
• A solid understanding of different social media platforms.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications.
• A passion for The Salvation Army and its Mission.
• Currently enrolled in a related Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master’s degree program.

Certifications:

• Possession of a Valid State Driver’s License.
