Social Media Intern Job Description

Location: 486 Chandler Street Worcester, MA
Schedule: To be determined based on class schedule and business needs.
Pay Range: $17.00 per hour.

General Description:

Chartwells Higher Education is seeking a creative and passionate Social Media Intern to join their marketing department in Dining Services at Worcester State University. The intern will play a key role in managing the university’s dining program’s social media presence, helping to reach and engage students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and update the Dining Services social media accounts across multiple platforms (TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Yammer, LinkedIn, and Sprout Social).
• Plan and execute social media calendars, ensuring regular and engaging content creation.
• Brainstorm and develop creative social media campaign ideas.
• Create and manage engaging content including contests, giveaways, and promotions.
• Promote upcoming events and special promotions within the dining services.
• Share important updates and news from Dining Services, including timely announcements, closures, and weather emergencies.
• Analyze social media analytics to gauge the success of campaigns and identify areas for improvement.
• Assist in managing and updating the Dining Services website.
• Create and share press releases for significant dining news, collaborating with internal and external trade publications.
• Understand the university’s Dining Services program in its entirety, including target audiences, product goals, and service aspects.
• Engage directly with students, faculty, staff, and visitors, providing excellent customer service and content.
• Offer suggestions for enhancing customer experience on social platforms and internal processes.
• Learn and become proficient in using internal software systems.
• Assist in creating performance metric newsletters and reports.

Requirements:

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Customer service experience/knowledge.
• Strong understanding of social media platforms and their best practices.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• General interest and knowledge of marketing principles.
• Knowledge of graphic design tools is a plus.
• Prior marketing related experience is a plus.
