Social Media Internship at ESPN
This internship offers a unique opportunity to work within ESPN’s dynamic Social Media team. The team is known for its creative, sports-savvy approach to producing industry-leading content that reaches millions of fans. Responsibilities:
• Social Media Content: You will assist in creating, optimizing, and posting content across various platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, X (formerly Twitter), and Facebook.
• Trending Content: You’ll be tasked with identifying and acquiring trending/viral content, often user-generated, to be posted on ESPN’s channels.
• Video & Graphic Creation: You will use video editing software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, Avid, After Effects) and photo editing software (Photoshop) to create engaging short videos and graphics for social media.
• News Judgment: You will learn to apply journalistic standards to the most important sports stories of the day and translate them into impactful social media content.
• Analytics & Research: You will assist with compiling social media analytics reports and researching emerging trends in the social media landscape to enhance ESPN’s social presence.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a passionate social media user who thrives in fast-paced environments and is eager to learn. They should possess:
• Social Media Expertise: A deep understanding of platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, X, and Facebook.
• Writing & Editing Skills: Strong writing and copyediting abilities, alongside creative thinking and keen news judgment.
• Sports Knowledge: An in-depth understanding of all sports, including current athletes, rules, and major events.
• ESPN Familiarity: Knowledge of ESPN shows, talent, and digital products.
• Technical Skills: Experience with video editing (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, Avid, After Effects) and photo editing software (Photoshop).
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
• Historical knowledge of sports
• Familiarity with the sports media landscape, including business trends and technologies
• Demonstrated leadership experience
Program Details:
• This is a remote internship, open to candidates across the United States.
• The program runs from September 23rd to December 13th, 2024, with a 40-hour workweek.
• Some flexibility may be provided for academic schedules.
• The pay rate for this internship is $21.70 per hour, with potential for select benefits.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Enrollment in an accredited college/university, recent graduation, or participation in a Disney College Program or Professional Internship.
• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Unrestricted work authorization in the United States.
• No prior completion of a one-year Disney internship or program.
