Job Description: Social Media & Digital Engagement Intern

This is a unique opportunity for an early career professional to contribute to a growing political organization. The intern will play a key role in shaping the digital voice of A4AL and amplifying its advocacy efforts online.

Role Purpose: To expand A4AL’s digital presence and enhance its online advocacy through engaging content and strategic digital engagement.
Learning Opportunities: The intern will gain hands-on experience in editing, nonprofit marketing, and content creation within a political and advocacy context.

Core Responsibilities:
• Help plan and execute A4AL’s digital content strategy across various platforms, including Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Telegram.
Create and schedule posts for diverse social media channels.
• Draft visually compelling graphics and reels using design tools like Canva or CapCut.
• Actively monitor engagement metrics and trends to inform and refine future digital strategies.
• Assist in translating complex policy developments into compelling, digestible content suitable for online audiences.
• Provide support for coverage of live events or launches, ensuring timely and effective digital promotion.
• Help maintain and organize the organization’s content calendar.
• Collaborate closely with the communications and policy teams to ensure consistent messaging and maximize digital impact.

Qualifications:
• Demonstrated strong writing skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• A clear and evident interest in digital storytelling for political or advocacy purposes.
• Prior experience with various social media platforms is highly desirable.
• An understanding of current trends in digital engagement.
• Familiarity with content creation tools such as Canva, CapCut, or scheduling tools like Buffer (preferred but not strictly required).
• Possession of a strong sense of initiative and creativity.
• An acute eye for visual communication.

Position Type & Location:
• This is a volunteer, fully remote position.
• Interns based in the DMV area (DC, Maryland, Virginia) are required to attend all in-person events, which may include “Hill Days” and similar advocacy or campaign activities in Washington, DC.
• For interns located outside the DMV area, there are optional in-person opportunities in Washington, DC.
