Social Media & Communications Internship

Overview

An exciting opportunity for undergraduate or graduate students to gain hands-on experience in social media strategy and corporate communications. This role focuses on analyzing and recommending social media strategies that align with organizational initiatives and goals, while also supporting, creating, and overseeing various internal and external communication venues.

  • Undergraduate Salary: $20.00 per hour
  • Graduate Salary: $22.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Work under direct supervision, handling basic issues and referring more complex matters to higher-level staff.
  • Develop and apply beginning to working knowledge of recruitment subject matter and general communications principles.
  • Identify and leverage appropriate social media channels for various campaigns and objectives.
  • Track social media performance, analyze data, and implement necessary adjustments to strategies.
  • Regularly communicate social media activities and insights to management.
  • Generate and present social media analytics reports.
  • Conduct research on social media best practices and effective communication strategies.
  • Develop and draft unique written communication announcements for company-wide needs.
  • Design and produce compelling visual content to support announcements and communication campaigns.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with various departments and committees (e.g., Engagement, Safety, HR, Kaizen) to support communication needs.
  • Manage external social media platforms including the Company Facebook Page, LinkedIn (recruitment focus), Glassdoor comments, and other relevant social media forums.
  • Administer internal communication channels such as local TV monitors, computer lock screen software, and local newsletters.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with employees at all organizational levels, both in-person and remotely.
  • Ensure adherence to Federal, State, and Local legal requirements, YLA Values, Policies, Procedures, and J-SOX compliance.
  • Operate with a degree of autonomy while collaborating with HR colleagues to maintain a consistent HR voice.
  • Manage special projects and ongoing initiatives as assigned by management.
  • Facilitate alignment and improvement of HR policies, processes, and programs across assigned regions.
  • Actively support the company’s commitment to continuous improvement (Kaizen).
  • Perform other duties as specified by management.

Qualifications

The company is seeking a motivated undergraduate student, preferably majoring in:

  • Communication
  • Business
  • Logistics
  • Contract Logistics
  • Business Development
  • Logistics Engineering

This individual should possess:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of Web usage.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

Requirements for Undergraduate Students

  • Must be currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in an accredited college or university as a full-time student (minimum of 12 semester hours).
  • Must have a minimum of 60 credit hours.
  • Must be in good academic standing.

Requirements for Graduate Students

  • Must be currently enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university leading to an advanced degree in a related field.
  • Must be in good academic standing.

Internship Details

  • Part-time Internship with a flexible schedule and duration.
  • Timeframe: Period of up to 12 months.
  • Based on program details such as schedule and hours, interns may be eligible for:
    • Paid Holidays

    • Participation in a 401K plan
