They are known for their commitment to quality and design, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the tech industry. They are also committed to creating a positive impact on the world through their products and practices.

SoC Physical Design Engineer, PnR Job Description:

This is a highly visible role at Apple, where you will be directly responsible for the physical implementation of design partitions for complex System-on-a-Chip (SoC) designs. You will be working with cutting-edge process technology, collaborating with various design teams, and playing a key role in delivering best-in-class designs.

Your Responsibilities will include:

Collaboration with Logic Design: You will work closely with the logic design team to understand the architecture of your assigned partitions and ensure that the physical design considerations are taken into account early in the design cycle.
Netlist to Tapeout Implementation: You will be responsible for the complete physical implementation process, starting from the netlist and going all the way to tapeout (the final design layout for fabrication). This will involve meeting strict schedules and design goals.
Verification and Signoff: You will conduct thorough timing, physical, and electrical verification of your partitions, driving the signoff closure to ensure the design meets all requirements.
Issue Resolution and Improvement: You will be proactive in identifying and resolving design and flow issues related to physical design, proposing potential solutions, and driving their implementation.

Key Qualifications:

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Architecture, VLSI, Design, Logic Design, or Circuit Design.
• Previous experience through internships, co-ops, projects, or relevant coursework in these fields is preferred.
• Proven strong teamwork skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with multiple functional teams across different fields.
• Experience with Verilog, VHDL, Python, Perl, TCL, and/or SPICE is beneficial.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge Apple hardware products. If you are passionate about physical design and eager to join a dynamic and innovative team, this could be the perfect role for you.
