Job Description: Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) Graduate Internship
This internship provides a valuable opportunity for a graduate student in Speech-Language Pathology to gain hands-on experience working with students in a specialized educational setting. The intern will work under the direct supervision of a licensed SLP at Sheppard Pratt School Hunt Valley.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lesson Planning: Develop individualized lesson plans tailored to meet the specific communication and language needs of students.
• Intervention Implementation: Deliver direct therapy services and interventions as planned, working directly with students.
• Therapy Notes: Document therapy sessions accurately and concisely, maintaining records of student progress and interventions.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other professionals, including teachers, therapists (occupational, physical), and counselors, to support students’ overall development.
• Feedback and Learning: Actively seek and incorporate feedback from the supervising SLP to improve clinical skills. Engage in ongoing learning opportunities to expand knowledge and expertise in speech-language pathology.
Internship Details:
• Eligibility: Must be currently enrolled in an accredited SLP graduate program.
• Time Frame: Summer term, beginning in May and ending August 1st.
• Hours: Approximately 32 hours per week.
Learning Environment:
• Direct Supervision: Receive consistent guidance and support from a licensed SLP.
• Feedback: Regular feedback provided by the supervising SLP to facilitate growth and development.
• Modeling: Direct 1:1 modeling of expectations and procedures for interventions, ensuring a supportive learning environment.
Student Expectations:
• Provide daily feedback regarding planning and intervention implementation
• Write therapy notes
• Seek learning opportunities
