Detailed Job Description:
This is an internship opportunity within GE Aviation’s Test System Engineering operations. The specific sub-section will vary, with possibilities including:
• Test System Operations Team
• Development Engine Test Operations
• Aero and Combustion Operations
• Component Test Operations
• Data System Operations
Essential Responsibilities:
Interns will utilize their existing job skills, company policies, and procedures to solve problems and test jet engine components. Specific tasks include:
• Complying with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs, policies, and regulations.
• Interfacing with both internal and external organizations to support business needs.
• Identifying and reporting issues or problems related to equipment, processes, and/or products.
• Communicating work progress and findings to relevant personnel.
• Collaborating with the team to meet project priorities.
• Developing and implementing work plans to update and improve lab equipment.
• Setting up, installing, calibrating, and operating analog, digital, and gas analysis data acquisition systems.
• Monitoring data acquisition systems during engine tests to identify issues.
• Troubleshooting and resolving instrumentation or system malfunctions, escalating issues when necessary.
• Reviewing, interpreting, and processing test data.
• Analyzing calibration results and processed data.
• Maintaining effective communication with team members, support organizations, and customers.
• Adhering to good housekeeping practices and safety procedures.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Active Military Personnel: Applicants must be transitioning out of military service and within the 180-day window allowed by the SkillBridge program.
Desired Characteristics:
• Strong mechanical and electrical skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Airframe & Powerplant license (preferred)
• Proficiency in using a personal computer for accessing online documents, drawings, and instructions
• Prior experience working in a team-oriented environment
