SkillBridge Internship – Field Service Engineer | Siemens
The Tone:
This is a temporary, 4-month internship at Siemens, located nationwide throughout the United States, requiring up to 80% travel. Siemens is a global technology company focused on industry, infrastructure, transport, and healthcare, creating technology with purpose and adding real value for customers. This role provides hands-on technical training and field experience to prepare transitioning servicemembers for potential careers as Field Service Engineers, supporting electrical power distribution equipment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Training: Complete all required technical and safety training programs.
• Field Participation: Participate in field service activities under the direct supervision of qualified Siemens personnel.
• Procedure Learning: Learn and apply Siemens commissioning and maintenance procedures for equipment.
• Equipment Inspection: Support electrical and mechanical inspections of power distribution equipment.
• System Support: Assist with testing, troubleshooting, and startup activities for systems.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Active military personnel with formal military approval to participate as a SkillBridge Intern is required. High school diploma or state-recognized GED is also required.
• Experience: Demonstrated technical experience or applied knowledge in electrical, mechanical, industrial, maintenance, mechatronic, controls, automation, or related technical disciplines. Experience in troubleshooting and technical problem-solving is necessary.
• Skills: Ability to read and follow technical procedures and documentation, effective communication (verbal & written), ability to interface with customers and collaborate with team members, and a valid driver’s license.
• Bonus: U.S. Military experience (E4 or above preferred), military occupational specialties related to electrical, mechanical, power generation, electronics, or industrial maintenance. An Associate or Bachelor’s degree is preferred, along with experience with electrical equipment, power systems, generators, controls, automation systems, motors, or industrial equipment. Experience performing maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, or commissioning activities, familiarity with electrical drawings, schematics, or technical manuals, experience leading teams, or exposure to low-voltage or medium-voltage power distribution equipment are also advantageous.
