This is a SkillBridge Internship Program designed as a developmental opportunity for active-duty military personnel who are within 3-6 months of separating from the military. It offers on-the-job training and experience in the civilian sector, aligning with the DOD SkillBridge program.
Key responsibilities and activities for the incumbent include:
• Engaging in a variety of work assignments, projects, and activities of varying complexity.
• Applying principles and theories in real-world scenarios to explore a career path.
• Gaining necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform at a professional level, typically identified by an existing classification within Spokane County.
• Receiving dedicated training, supervision, and mentorship from a professional in their field.
• Potentially participating in professional development opportunities such as conferences, seminars, and online events.
• Providing entry- to intermediate-level professional services under the supervision of professional staff and/or a supervisor.
• Undertaking and/or participating in projects and programs specifically designed to develop professional skills and expertise relevant to the organization’s needs.
• Participating in the planning and implementation of unit projects and initiatives within their area of expertise.
• Interacting directly with colleagues, clientele, and/or other internal or external stakeholders for assignment planning and daily operational problem resolution.
• Receiving continuous guidance, training, and mentoring in planning and executing activities and assignments.
• As appropriate and specified by unit management, conducting original research and preparing reports based on findings, including recommendations or alternative proposals for action.
• Potentially undertaking related studies or enrichment programs aligned with the specific objectives of the operating unit.
• Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• Must be eligible for the DOD SkillBridge program as defined by the official SkillBridge website.
• No previous work experience is explicitly required for this internship.
• Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
