This is a developmental SkillBridge Internship opportunity for active-duty military personnel who are separating from the military in the next 3-6 months. The program is specifically designed to provide on-the-job training and experience in the civilian sector.

Program Overview:
The SkillBridge Internship Program is a Department of Defense (DOD) initiative that matches civilian work opportunities to a military member’s job training and work experience as they approach the end of their military duty. Interns will engage in various work assignments, projects, and activities of varying complexity, structured to allow them to apply principles and theories, explore a career path, and gain the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully at a professional level within Spokane County.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
• Provides entry- to intermediate-level professional services, operating under the supervision of professional staff and/or a supervisor, aligning with the day-to-day objectives of the assigned unit.
• Undertakes and/or actively participates in projects and programs specifically designed to enhance professional skills and expertise relevant to the organization’s needs.
• Participates in the planning and implementation phases of unit projects and initiatives within their area of expertise.
• Engages directly with colleagues, clientele, and/or other internal or external constituencies to plan assignments and resolve day-to-day operational issues.
• Receives comprehensive guidance, training, and mentoring from experienced professional personnel in the execution of activities and assignments.
• As appropriate to the position and specified by unit management, conducts original research and prepares reports based on findings, which may include recommendations or alternative proposals for action.
• May undertake related studies or enrichment programs as appropriate to the specific objectives of the operating unit.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Training and Development:
Participants will receive training, supervision, and mentorship from professionals in their respective fields. The program also facilitates professional development opportunities through participation in conferences, seminars, online events, and other educational means.

Eligibility and Requirements:
• Must be an active-duty military personnel separating from the military in the next 3-6 months.
• Must be eligible for the DOD SkillBridge program.
• No previous work experience is required.
• Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
