Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) Intern/Co-op:
Meraki’s SRE team is responsible for building and scaling the cloud that supports millions of Meraki devices worldwide. This team is essential for managing the infrastructure that supports network switches, security appliances, wireless APs, security cameras, and IoT devices.
As an SRE Intern/Co-op, you’ll be part of a tight-knit global team working on projects that span:
• Server hardware and operating systems
• Tools for code deployment
• Service monitoring
You’ll have the opportunity to:
• Build software and systems to monitor, scale, and deploy distributed cloud services.
• Contribute to key decisions about managing and scaling sophisticated, high-performance distributed systems.
• Provide your perspective on Meraki’s cloud services and help develop innovative solutions.
Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a technical bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with a strong foundation in computer science fundamentals – OR – pursuing a software/coding boot camp (or educational training program) and/or technical associate’s degree with a strong foundation in computer science fundamentals (completed within the last 6 months)
• Clear and effective communication skills
• Proactive learner who can quickly adapt to multiple frameworks, languages, and environments
• Passionate team player
• Continually able to learn from experience and eager for feedback
• Previous internship or large-scale project experience
• Familiarity with networking, data visualization, distributed systems, databases, container orchestration, or Ruby on Rails
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
Bonus points for:
• Experience with *nix systems (Debian and Ubuntu)
• Experience with container technologies (Docker Swarm and Kubernetes)
• Familiarity with logging and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Logstash, ElasticSearch, OpenTelemetry, statsd, collectd)
• Experience with CI/CD tooling (Jenkins or Gitlab)
Program Details:
• Interns participate in a 12-week program, while co-ops participate in a 16-week program.
• Interns and co-ops are assigned to subteams within the SRE organization.
• The program includes a smaller “starter project” followed by a larger, more involved project.
• Projects are multi-functional, allowing exposure to new languages and technologies and fostering professional growth.
• Mentorship is a key aspect of the program. Each intern and co-op is paired with a dedicated mentor for guidance and support.

• Improving Kubernetes node lifecycle management
• Hardening internal microservice containers for enhanced security and resiliency
• Building a framework for Airflow unit tests
