About the Job: Show Writing & Story Development Intern
This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of story experiences across Disney’s attractions, lands, and resorts. The intern will work within a team responsible for establishing themes, generating high-level concepts, and creating written outlines, treatments, and scripts. The ultimate goal is to solve business problems while entertaining and inspiring Disney guests.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Generate story ideas, developing them through research, outlining, treatment writing, final script creation, and storyboarding (SIGs) under the supervision of a senior team member.
• Assist projects through research, coordinating brainstorming sessions, creating mood/idea boards, and documenting meeting notes.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions with show teams, contributing notes from writers’ room sessions to support the team’s interactive process.
• Help develop nomenclature and sign copy for show and operational graphics, operational spiels, safety and show dialogue, and potentially language translation.
• Proofread documents, identifying and correcting grammatical, typographical, and nomenclature errors.
• Conduct research for senior story development partners.
• Support company-wide internal and external communications.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining creative integrity and communicating effectively at all levels.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Final Draft, and Keynote.
• Ability to research visual and written archival resources.
• Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience as a staff writer or writer’s assistant in the entertainment industry.
• Disney Theme Park experience.
• Working knowledge of audio/video production.
• Language proficiency beyond English (e.g., Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, French, Cantonese, Spanish).
Education Requirements:
• Currently enrolled as a junior or higher at an accredited college/university, pursuing a degree in Creative Writing, Playwriting, Screenwriting, Journalism, Communications, Game Design, or a related field.
Program Information:
• Dates: May/June 2025 – January 2026
• Location: Orlando, FL
• Pay: $26.50/hour (undergraduate), $27.50/hour (graduate) + potential benefits.
