Show Lighting Design Intern Description

This internship provides an opportunity to work alongside a team that designs, develops, installs, tests, adjusts, and documents new lighting projects for Disney theme parks and resorts.

Responsibilities:

Develop lighting designs: Under the guidance of experienced designers, you will contribute to the development of show lighting designs.
Implement designs: You will assist in the practical implementation of lighting designs in a construction environment.
Troubleshoot and install existing lighting: You will be involved in troubleshooting and installing existing lighting systems.
Provide general support: You will offer general support to the lighting designers, including tasks related to inventory control.

Specific responsibilities and shifts may vary based on project needs and availability.

You will have the opportunity to:

• Gain hands-on experience in theatrical and architectural lighting.
• Develop your skills in software like AutoCAD and Revit.
• Improve your computer literacy with MS Office products.
• Work as part of a collaborative technical team.

Required Currently pursuings & Skills:

Hands-on experience: Previous experience with theatrical or architectural lighting is essential.
Software Proficiency: Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit is required.
Computer Skills: Proficiency with MS Office products is expected.
Teamwork: You must be able to effectively work as part of a technical team.
Valid Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is required.

Education:

• Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher in an accredited college/university, pursuing a degree in Theatrical or Architectural Lighting, or a related field.
• Graduates from an accredited college/university within the past 6 months are also eligible.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter prior to the internship.
• Alternatively, must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months of the application deadline.
• Must be currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization.

Additional Information:

• The internship is located in Glendale, CA.
• The approximate dates of the internship are January through June 2025.
• Candidates selected for the Glendale, CA based internship must provide their own housing for the duration of the program.
• The pay rate is $26.50 per hour for undergraduate students and $27.50 per hour for graduate students.
• Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits, depending on the level and position offered.
