Job Description:

The American Red Cross is seeking a Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) Intern for their Southern California region. This is a part-time, paid internship opportunity.

Key details:

Mission: To provide care and comfort to members of the United States Armed Forces and their families.
Eligibility: Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate student at an accredited college or university in San Diego County.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in the assessment and development of SAF programs.
• Conduct research related to the programs and recommends processes for greater efficiency.
• Assist with the creation and/or maintenance of program, plans, and systems.
• Support unit with research projects.
• Analyze data, present facts, and recommend solutions.
• Create, develop, or maintain databases for various events or projects.
• Assist with the development of reports and other informational materials.
• Support and/or manage multiple SAF programs.
• Assist with strategic planning operations.
• Help coordinate direct referrals to appropriate community and government agencies.
• Participate in military and veteran engagement events and community outreach in the region.
• Assist in the development and evaluation of veteran and military-focused programs.
Scope: Learning aspects of the job with assignments received in task-oriented terms. Contacts primarily within the immediate work unit.
Pay: $16.50/hr – $16.83/hr (CA). Actual salary may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
Requirements:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Internship is typically part of an undergraduate program which requires some university credit hours.
Experience: Up to 1 year of related experience.
Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel). Ability to work on a team.
Travel: May be required.
