Job Description:
Cummins is seeking a talented onsite Service Intern to join their Summer Internship Program in Normal, IL. This is a full-time, summer internship position, 100% onsite at the Normal branch, running from June 2nd through August 1st (flexible based on school schedule), Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
As a Service Intern, you will assist senior-level Technicians with repairs and maintenance on CHASSIS products and Engine repair, contributing to shop maintenance and supporting diagnostic activities.
Responsibilities:
• Assist senior-level Technicians with repairs and maintenance on CHASSIS products and Engine repair.
• Disassemble, clean, and inspect chassis and/or chassis components.
• Provide assistance with diagnosing and troubleshooting engine failures.
• Maintain work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
• Perform general shop maintenance such as inspecting extension cords, replacing air lines, general maintenance, daily JSA (Job Safety Analysis) reports, welder inspections, and daily time sheets.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
• Must be currently enrolled at a College or University, pursuing a degree in an Automotive Technical Program.
• Ability to work in an automotive shop / manufacturing setting, mechanical knowledge preferred.
• Must be able to lift 35 pounds and physically lift, stand, squat, kneel frequently, wear required personal protective equipment as required, and operate forklifts preferred.
• Basic computer software knowledge is preferred.
