Service Academy Trainee | MetLife
The Tone:
This is a full-time training program at MetLife. MetLife is the nation’s largest non-medical carrier of group insurance, impacting over 55,000 customers and covering more than 50 million employees and family members. As part of the Group Benefits team, this role is crucial for delivering tailored life, disability, dental, vision, and voluntary benefits solutions. The Service Academy Program is designed to transition recent college graduates into full-time Client Service Consultants who provide customer-centric solutions and manage customer relationships.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Program Completion: Successfully complete the 4-month Service Academy Program, which includes structured classroom and on-the-job learning.
• Industry Understanding: Work with a seasoned service professional mentor to develop an understanding of MetLife’s Group Benefits products, services, and system platforms.
• Customer Support: Reinforce the service team by learning MetLife’s systems and processes to support an assigned block of customers, assisting with problem solving and delivering on customer needs.
• Strategic Participation: Participate in client audits and the strategic planning process, generating reports to track activities, identify trends, and report progress.
• Efficiency Improvement: Utilize approved AI tools to support routine tasks such as drafting, summarizing, and organizing information to improve day-to-day efficiency.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Entry-Level, open to recent college graduates with limited work experience, with a focus on understanding the employee benefits industry.
• Experience: 0-3 years of customer-service or account management experience, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote).
• Skills: Strong relationship-building, interpersonal, customer service, verbal, written communication, and presentation skills; sound business judgment; and strong project management abilities including problem solving, time management, attention to detail, analytical thinking, and decisiveness.
• Bonus: A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, as is a working knowledge of AI capabilities with the ability to evaluate and validate outputs with guidance.
