Senior Trademark Paralegal | Dorsey & Whitney LLP
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Dorsey & Whitney LLP, located in New York, NY. Dorsey & Whitney is a global law firm with over 650 lawyers across 22 offices, providing strategic legal counsel to companies worldwide across diverse industries. As a Senior Trademark Paralegal, you will be a critical part of Dorsey’s client service team, working collaboratively with lawyers and clients on an array of substantive client matters. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who enjoys working independently and with a team, possessing skilled paralegal experience in trademark and strong organizational skills.

• Mission: To assist attorneys in the comprehensive management, prosecution, and enforcement of U.S. and international trademark and copyright portfolios.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Drafting & Filing: Assist attorneys in drafting correspondence and various trademark-related documents for U.S. prosecution, filing them with the U.S. Trademark Office under attorney direction.
• Client & Local Counsel Coordination: Coordinate and communicate directly with clients and local counsel regarding routine or procedural trademark prosecution events and international matters.
• Portfolio Management: Assist attorneys in managing U.S. and international trademark portfolios, including reviewing files, understanding docket deadlines, and identifying necessary actions.
• Enforcement Support: Assist in trademark enforcement matters by monitoring online channels for unauthorized brand use, investigating suspected counterfeiting, and coordinating takedown efforts.
• Research & Analysis: Evaluate trademark watch notices, identify potential conflicts, conduct country law requirements research, and prepare clear summaries with recommended next steps for attorneys.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree or completion of a paralegal program or equivalent experience, with familiarity with Intellectual Property.
• Experience: At least 7 years of related experience, with expert understanding and knowledge of the trademark process, docketing, and filing responsibilities. Expert knowledge of, and exposure to, U.S. and international trademark online databases.
• Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated analytical ability; ability to proactively problem-solve and exercise independent judgment; excellent organizational skills for managing a large volume of detailed tasks.
• Bonus: Expert knowledge of, and exposure to, docketing databases, with Foundation IP being preferred.
