About the Role:

As a Senior Staff Software Engineer focusing on Platform & Scalability, you will be a critical leader within our engineering organization. This pivotal role requires an expert engineer who can architect, design, and implement highly scalable, resilient, and performant core platform services. You will lead significant technical initiatives, set strategic technical direction, mentor senior engineers, and directly influence the evolution of our foundational infrastructure. Your work will ensure our platform can seamlessly handle immense loads, maintain exceptional reliability, and serve as the robust backbone for all our products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the architectural design and implementation of complex, distributed systems that are highly available, fault-tolerant, and scalable to meet millions of requests per second.
• Drive technical strategy and roadmap development for core platform services, influencing key decisions that shape the future of our technology stack.
• Design and implement high-performance APIs and microservices using languages such as Go, Java, or Rust, ensuring optimal resource utilization and low latency.
• Champion best practices in system design, performance optimization, security, and operational excellence across the engineering organization.
• Conduct in-depth code reviews, provide critical feedback, and ensure adherence to coding standards, maintainability, and architectural vision.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, SRE, and other engineering teams to define requirements, integrate solutions, and troubleshoot complex production issues.
• Mentor and guide senior and staff-level engineers, fostering their technical growth, leadership skills, and architectural understanding.
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies and tools to enhance our platform’s capabilities, efficiency, and reliability.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, and overall development processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 10+ years of professional software development experience with a strong focus on large-scale distributed systems and platform engineering.
• Expert proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language (e.g., Go, Java, Rust, C++) and a deep understanding of its ecosystem.
• Extensive experience designing, building, and operating highly scalable, fault-tolerant microservices architectures on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Deep understanding of distributed systems concepts, including consensus algorithms, distributed transactions, consistency models, and message queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Proven track record with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) in production environments.
• Strong expertise with various database technologies, including both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., Cassandra, MongoDB, DynamoDB).
• Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues across multiple layers of a system.
• Strong leadership and mentorship capabilities, with a history of guiding senior engineers and leading significant technical projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience with advanced networking concepts, proxies, and load balancing (e.g., Envoy, Istio).
• Familiarity with serverless architectures and event-driven design patterns.
• Experience working with data streaming technologies and real-time data processing.
• Contributions to open-source projects or a strong portfolio of personal technical work.
• Experience in a regulated industry or environments with strict compliance requirements.
