Job Summary

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Cloud Platform team, you will be instrumental in building and maintaining the foundational services and infrastructure that power all of Tech Innovators Inc.’s applications. You will be responsible for developing robust, scalable, and secure cloud-native solutions, focusing on microservices architecture, distributed systems, and automation. This position requires a proactive problem-solver with a strong ability to manage complex technical challenges, mentor junior engineers, and drive best practices in software development and cloud operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Develop: Architect, design, and implement highly available, scalable, and resilient cloud-native services and APIs using modern programming languages (e.g., Go, Python, Java) and frameworks.
• Infrastructure as Code: Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to provision and manage cloud resources (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• System Optimization: Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues across distributed systems, implementing monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure platform health.
• Security & Compliance: Ensure the platform adheres to security best practices and compliance requirements, implementing robust security controls and participating in security reviews.
• Collaboration & Mentorship: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Product, DevOps, and other Engineering teams. Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and promote a culture of technical excellence.
• Innovation & Best Practices: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in cloud computing and software engineering, advocating for their adoption where appropriate.
• Troubleshooting: Participate in on-call rotation to support and troubleshoot production issues, contributing to root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience: 5+ years of demonstrable experience in software development, with a significant focus on building and operating cloud-native applications and platforms.
• Programming Languages: Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Go, Python, Java, C#).
• Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with at least one major public cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including a deep understanding of core services (e.g., EC2/VMs, S3/Storage, Lambda/Functions, Kubernetes/EKS/AKS/GKE, Databases like RDS/CosmosDB/CloudSQL).
• Distributed Systems: Solid understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, message queues (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/Azure Service Bus), and distributed system design patterns.
• DevOps Practices: Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps), version control systems (Git), and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Core Competencies:

  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Developer Associate, GCP Professional Cloud Developer).
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Prior experience with large-scale data processing or streaming technologies.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, including leading projects or mentoring junior team members.
