Head, Credit Admin, Documentation and Governance | Access Bank Plc

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Access Bank Plc, located in Nigeria. Access Bank Plc is a leading financial institution within the banking and financial services sector. This role is crucial for establishing strong credit governance and ensuring that all approved credit facilities are meticulously documented, disbursed, maintained, and monitored in strict alignment with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and the Bank’s risk appetite. The position directly contributes to mitigating credit risk and enhancing the overall integrity of the lending portfolio.

• Team: Risk Management, reports to Chief Risk Officer
• Mission: Owns the leadership and oversight of credit administration, documentation, collateral management, and post-approval credit controls across the Bank.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Oversight: Oversee end-to-end credit administration, documentation, collateral management, loan disbursement, and post-approval credit controls across the Bank.
• Compliance: Confirm that all pre-disbursement conditions, including documentation, collateral, approvals, insurance, legal clearance, and security perfection, are satisfied before disbursement.
• Monitoring: Monitor unauthorized overdrafts, expired facilities, temporary accommodations, overdue reviews, documentation exceptions, and other credit breaches for timely escalation and resolution.
• Improvement: Drive process improvement, automation, and digitization across documentation, collateral tracking, deferral monitoring, loan booking, and reporting processes.
• Leadership: Provide leadership, coaching, supervision, and performance management for the Credit Administration, Documentation, Collateral Management, and Governance teams.

The Must-Haves
• Background: First degree in Banking and Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Law, Risk Management, or a related discipline, at a Senior Manager career level.
• Experience: Minimum of 12 years’ post-qualification experience in banking or financial services, with strong exposure to credit risk management.
• Skills: In-depth knowledge of credit administration, credit risk management, loan operations, and post-approval credit controls; strong understanding of credit documentation, security perfection, collateral management, and loan booking; strategic thinking, sound judgment, a strong control mindset, and attention to detail; ability to build, structure, and sustain a high-performing, control-focused team.
• Bonus: Relevant master’s degree such as MBA, MSc Finance, MSc Risk Management, or an additional specialist certification in credit risk management, enterprise risk management, or collateral management.
