Senior Litigation Docket Clerk | Gibson Dunn

This is a full-time role at Gibson Dunn, available in any of our U.S. offices. Gibson Dunn is a leading global law firm, dedicated to advising clients on significant transactions and disputes. This role is critical for the growing California Managing Attorney’s Office, ensuring meticulous calendaring, accurate court document retrieval, and compliance with court procedures. The Senior Litigation Docket Clerk directly contributes to the firm’s commitment to precision and vision in legal strategies.

• Mission: Ensure accurate and timely litigation docketing, calendaring, and court document management to support litigation attorneys.
• Tech Stack: CourtAlert, CompuLaw, MA3000, Microsoft Office, NYSCEF, NexGen, PACER
What You’ll Actually Do
• Attorney Support: Provide direct support to litigation attorneys by calculating deadlines and retrieving essential documents.
• Date Tracking: Track critical dates and related details, communicating this information as needed to attorneys, paralegals, and staff.
• Calendar Management: Review court filings and accurately enter calendar deadlines into centralized docketing software, specifically CourtAlert.
• Case Research: Search cases using specialized software and various internet resources.
• Compliance Assistance: Assist with reviewing court filings to ensure compliance with established court rules and procedures.
• E-Filing Support: Provide backup assistance for electronic court filings across state, federal district, and appellate courts.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Senior-level professional with a general understanding of court docketing and calendaring procedures, along with familiarity with court filings and general rules for processing pleadings.
• Experience: Minimum of 4 years of prior experience in litigation docketing. Experience with federal, state, and local court systems, including electronic filing systems such as NYSCEF, NexGen, and PACER.
• Skills: Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail. Strong knowledge of court rules and procedures in California state and federal courts. Strong research abilities, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Bonus: Experience working in a large law firm is highly desired. Familiarity with CourtAlert or other rules-based calendaring software like CompuLaw or MA3000 is preferred, as is experience with firmwide calendaring. Flexibility to work overtime and weekends, based on department needs, is required.
