International Editor (Internship) | The Ambony

The Tone:
This is a virtual, unpaid internship at The Ambony, publishing *Modern Treatise*. *Modern Treatise* provides in-depth reporting and commentary covering international developments and domestic political affairs from across the wide political spectrum, targeting educated millennials and Gen Z. This role is crucial for leading the international content division, ensuring the publication of high-quality articles with diverse perspectives, and developing a team of contributors over a 12-month period. The internship can also be used for class credit.

The TL;DR

• Team: Reports to the publisher, assists in supervising three site contributors, manages eleven reporters.
• Mission: To lead the international content division, overseeing the development and publication of insightful, AP Style articles on international and domestic political affairs for the target demographic.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Leadership: Lead the international site division under the direction of the publisher.
• Team Management: Assist in selecting, supervising, and assigning work to three site contributors.
• Content Development: Guide contributors through the process of developing AP Style articles from initial ideas to final drafts.
• Content Approval: Review, approve, and fact-check all international content, ensuring accuracy of citations and references.
• Contribution: Contribute regular content to the platform as needed.

The Must-Haves
• Background: College graduate or graduate student studying journalism, English, or a related field, with excellent knowledge and understanding of the diverse international social and political landscape. The successful candidate can analyze and interpret international social and political events from diverse perspectives.
• Experience: Prior writing, reporting, or editing experience with a school newspaper or other publications, along with previous editorial or content management experience, or having managed/run a relevant site. Demonstrated ability to oversee the development of international social and political news features, covering international topics and presenting multiple perspectives on an issue, and ability to manage eleven reporters.
• Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, expert proficiency in AP Style writing format, effective judgment and decision-making skills, expert knowledge of communication and mass media, expert in managing time and completing tasks within decided time frame, and experience/ability to learn new online content media platforms.
