About the Job

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for performing activities related to financial planning, forecasting, and analysis for CenterPoint Energy’s Natural Gas business. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance, statistics, mathematics, or business from an accredited college or university. Certified Treasury Professional (CTP), Certified Financial Analyst (CFA), or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification(s) are preferred.

The Senior Financial Analyst will work directly with VP/ Directors/ Managers to provide financial support in developing and monitoring their budgets, including providing meaningful budget information and ad hoc reports, such as P&L, Metrics, etc. The analyst will also ensure that budget reports accurately reflect expenditures and related transactions in order to assure useful management information and sound budgetary control.

Essential Functions

• Serve as a critical financial partner for Natural Gas business unit support functions; driving operating financial planning, forecasting, and analysis.
• Work directly with VP/ Directors/ Managers to provide financial support in developing and monitoring their budgets, including providing meaningful budget information and ad hoc reports, such as P&L, Metrics, etc.
• Ensure that budget reports accurately reflect expenditures and related transactions in order to assure useful management information and sound budgetary control.
• Assist in the preparation and/or review of consolidated financial statements and presentation materials for the Natural Gas business unit.
• Perform activities to support periodic regulatory filings and rate case initiatives.
• Embrace continuous improvement mindset and develop innovative processes, procedures, and/or tools to support analysis of business performance.
• Participate on or lead cross-functional teams to provide business, accounting/financial expertise in support of client efforts.

Estimated Time Allocation:

• 70% Financial Planning, Reporting, and Analysis for Gas Support Functions
• 20% Gas Consolidated Reporting and Analysis
• 10% Regional Gas Operations filing support and ad-hoc special projects
