Role Summary

The Senior Field Service Technician (FST) is a full-time, field-based position operating independently to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain chemical dispensing equipment, as well as other essential equipment used in commercial foodservice or laundry operations. The primary objective of this role is to deliver exceptional service, focusing on customer retention and superior customer satisfaction rather than sales. This role is integral to supporting our valued customers and ensuring the optimal performance of our solutions.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions

  • Independently install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain P&G Professional chemical dispensing equipment and other related commercial foodservice or laundry equipment.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Apply basic understanding of electronics, plumbing, maintenance, or mechanical systems to effectively diagnose and resolve issues through root cause analysis.
  • Proficiently use laptop and cell phone technology, including but not limited to Salesforce, Microsoft Word, and Excel, for data input, access, and communication.
  • Operate a motor vehicle safely, spending approximately 30% of the day traveling between customer accounts across city, rural, and expressway conditions.
  • Be eligible to work onsite at customer locations to perform necessary business, service, and maintenance functions, adhering to all occupational health and safety requirements.

Work Schedule & On-Call

The standard work schedule is a 5-day, 8-hour per day work week. However, flexibility is required, as the role may include:

  • 12-hour shifts
  • Occasional weekends
  • Night shifts
  • On-call coverage, which may include weekends, holidays, and night shifts.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This role requires a degree of physical capability and adaptability to various work environments:

  • Ability to lift, lower, and carry objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to push and pull objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb vertical ladders, going up and down.
  • Ability to climb up and down stairs.
  • Ability to stand, sit, and/or walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to twist, bend at the knees, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, and reach for the purposes of installing and maintaining equipment.
  • Working on various surfaces, including concrete and asphalt (which may be uneven).
  • Ability to give and discern various visual and audible alarms and signals for equipment startup, evacuation, and fires.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures (both hot and cold), typically in warehouse conditions with wide variances in temperature, dust, and dirt.

Job Qualifications

  • Technical Acumen: Basic understanding of electronics, plumbing, maintenance, or mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to troubleshoot issues with root cause analysis.
  • Tool & Data Knowledge: Moderate working knowledge of appropriate tools, data, implements, and service needs.
  • Technology Proficiency: Proficient in laptop and cell phone technology, including but not limited to Salesforce, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Driver’s License: Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Residency: Candidate must reside in Huntsville.
  • Travel: Occasional overnight travel is required.
