About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our core cloud services team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance, and resilient backend systems that power our flagship products. You will work on complex distributed systems, contribute to architectural decisions, and mentor junior engineers, playing a crucial part in shaping the future of our platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop robust, scalable, and secure backend services and APIs using modern programming languages (e.g., Go, Java, Python).
• Lead the implementation of new features from conception to deployment, ensuring high quality and adherence to best practices.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, front-end engineers, and other stakeholders to define requirements and deliver impactful solutions.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
• Participate in and lead technical design discussions, code reviews, and architectural planning.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of technical growth and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our CI/CD pipelines, development processes, and testing strategies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, ensuring high availability and system stability.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend software development, with a strong focus on building scalable web services and APIs.
• Expert proficiency in at least one modern backend language such as Go, Java, or Python.
• Demonstrated experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including serverless architectures, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud-native services.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and event-driven design patterns.
• Extensive experience with relational (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and/or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB).
• Strong grasp of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design principles.
• Experience with RESTful API design and implementation.
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, strong analytical skills, and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Experience with message brokers and queuing systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS).
• Knowledge of observability tools (monitoring, logging, tracing) and practices.
• Familiarity with security best practices in web application development.
• Previous experience in a senior or lead engineer role, including technical leadership and mentoring.
• Contributions to open-source projects or a strong portfolio of personal projects.
