Senior Associate, Portfolio Management (North America) | Novastone Capital Advisors
The Tone:
This is a pivotal role in the United States & Canada. Novastone Capital Advisors (NCA) operates a global Operator-Led Search Fund program, assisting mid-career professionals in identifying, acquiring, growing, and exiting established small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) facing succession challenges. Novastone Partners LLC further institutionalizes search funds by managing Fund of Search Funds for limited partners. This position is central to the success of both Novastone Capital Advisors and Novastone Partners, as it aims to maximize value through active participation in strategic decision-making and continuous monitoring of portfolio companies throughout their investment lifecycle.

• Mission: Maximize value by actively participating in the strategic decision-making processes of NCA’s portfolio companies and closely monitoring their performance throughout the investment lifecycle.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Strategic Contribution: Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic growth and value creation plans for portfolio companies.
• Executive Partnership: Act as a ‘sparring partner’ for CEOs in building and executing value creation plans and potential exit strategies.
• Board Oversight: Serve on the Board of Directors of selected portfolio companies, introducing governance standards and compliance procedures.
• Performance Monitoring: Track financial metrics, operational performance, and overall business health to ensure portfolio companies meet their goals and deliver expected returns.
• Risk & Capital Management: Identify and manage potential risks by assessing market conditions and industry trends, and lead capital-raising efforts while cultivating investor relationships.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field. This role is for a seasoned operator with senior management expertise.
• Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a senior management position or as an operator of a company.
• Skills: Strong financial acumen for tracking and analyzing performance metrics; excellent communication and stakeholder management; strong critical thinking and problem-solving; demonstrated ability to thrive and drive results.
• Bonus: Experience in portfolio management and/or M&A processes of mid-cap companies within Private Equity, family offices, Investment Banks, or Consulting; an MBA or other advanced degree in finance or business; a proven track record of working with international companies and managing cross-border investments; previous non-executive board member background; and entrepreneurial drive.
