Senior Accountant | SingerLewak LLP

The Tone:

The TL;DR
• Role: Full Time
• Location: In-person, San Jose, CA
• Pay: $83429–$98000 yearly
• Team: Reports to a Supervisor, Manager, or Partner; supervises intern and staff level accountants.
• Mission: Manages diverse tax preparation, ensures accurate financial reporting, and provides critical tax planning and client advisory.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Prepare and review diverse tax returns: Prepare partnership, S-corp, C-corp, individual, and 990 tax returns, along with international reporting forms such as 5471.
• Perform complex tax calculations and adjustments: Calculate 754 step up depreciation, book/Fed/state differences on M1/M3 adjustments, and prepare UBIA assets and depreciation schedules.
• Provide tax planning and client advisory: Participate in planning and analysis for tax clients, conduct individual tax meetings, and advise clients on complex tax matters.
• Supervise and mentor junior staff: Direct and instruct assistants on work to be performed and reviewed, and supervise and assist intern and staff level accountants.
• Improve operational efficiency: Suggest and implement improvements to working procedures and proactively take ownership of projects through to completion and client delivery.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
• Experience: 2 years of work experience in the job offered or a related field.
• Skills:
• Preparing individual tax returns for clients.
• Filing corporate tax returns for LLC, S-Corporation, C-Corporation, and Nonprofits.
• Preparing expats’ foreign tax credits and forms, including 2555, 1116, FBAR, and 5471.
• Bookkeeping, including preparing asset, liability, and capital account entries.
• Knowledge of analysis of annual and quarterly financial statements.
• Conducting IRS audit support and researching tax laws and regulations.
• Advising clients on complex tax matters.
• Bonus: Experience in financial planning.
