Semiconductor FAB Industrial Engineering Intern – Description
This internship offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field of Industrial Engineering within MACOM’s semiconductor fabrication facility. As an intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers, receive mentorship and guidance, and build professional relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
• Project Ownership: You will be assigned an individual project with clearly defined goals and outcomes. This project might involve time studies, work sampling, facility layout, statistical analysis, cost/benefit analysis, manufacturing process design, or other areas within Industrial Engineering.
• Hands-on Experience: The internship provides the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a Class 100 Cleanroom environment, working with a wide array of automation tooling across different process areas.
• Collaborative Environment: You will interact with other engineering groups including Process, Device Integration, and Equipment engineering, fostering collaboration and networking.
• Training & Development: The internship offers comprehensive training, ongoing supervision, participation in an intern webinar series, networking/social events, and the chance to present your project at a poster session.
Requirements:
• Education: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial/Systems Engineering.
• ITAR Regulations: Proof of U.S. citizenship is required due to ITAR regulations.
Essential Skills & Experience:
• Communication: Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Collaboration: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for effective decision-making.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong/Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Data Analysis: Strong data analysis skills and data visualization experience.
• Scripting: Adept in SQL querying and scripting.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
• Process Mapping: Experience with process mapping and facility layout planning (AutoCAD).
• Time Studies: Experience performing time studies or projects involving capacity analysis.
• Lean/Six Sigma: Lean/Six Sigma certifications and/or project experience.
• Semiconductor Knowledge: Understanding of semiconductor process flow, structure, and functions.
• Manufacturing Experience: Experience in a manufacturing environment.
