Job Description
As a Security Officer – Unarmed Patrol Duties in Richmond, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries, specifically a Utilities location in this role. As a Patrol Officer at a utilities location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, completing routine rounds and staying highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will document observations, use site technology to communicate updates, and assist employees and visitors with professional customer service. Position Type: Part Time
Pay Rate: $19.67 / Hour
Job Schedule
This role primarily involves overnight shifts:
- Saturday: 07:00 PM – 07:00 AM
- Sunday: 07:00 PM – 07:00 AM

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
- Provide customer service to employees, contractors, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities at a utilities location.
- Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating to site management and/or public responders as required by post orders.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of facilities, yards, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized access, identify unusual conditions, and report maintenance or operational concerns.
- Control access through gates and/or designated entry points by verifying identification, logging visitors and vehicles, and directing authorized traffic according to site procedures.
- Complete detailed reports and logs, communicate observations to supervisors and site contacts, and support investigations by documenting security-related incidents and preserving relevant information.
Minimum Requirements
- Provide proof of a high school diploma and/or GED as required by the client.
- Be 21+ years of age (as required by the client for this role).
- Be at least 18 years of age (general company requirement for unarmed roles).
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be comfortable using a computer and/or tablet, preferred.
- Have a guard card and/or license, preferred.
- Have CPR certification, preferred.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only (this is an unarmed patrol duty role, check with recruiter if driving is involved).
