Job Description:

UW Health is seeking a Security Officer to play a critical role in maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Key responsibilities include:

• Patrolling hospital grounds.
• Assisting visitors with directions.
• Acting as the first responder to emergencies and disturbances.
• Interacting with law enforcement, patients, visitors, and staff regarding security or safety issues.
• Documenting daily activities and writing detailed incident reports using computer software programs.
• Monitoring and operating access control systems, security camera systems, intercoms, two-way radios, telephones, and alarm systems.

Requirements:

• Minimum: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: Associate Degree or progress towards a degree in criminal justice field or a Bachelor’s Degree in any other field of study.
• Minimum: One (1) year relevant experience or appropriate preferred education requirements.
• Preferred: Experience in healthcare security, corporate security, or law enforcement.
• Minimum: Valid Driver’s License and completion of IAHSS Basic Certification within six months of hire (employer paid).
• Must be insurable by Hospital’s risk management insurer, which requires a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License, a successful driving background check, and being at least 21 years of age.

Work Schedule:

• Full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Multiple shifts available: Day (7AM – 3PM), Evening (3PM – 11PM), or Night (11PM – 7AM).
• Rotating days off, rotating weekends, and rotating holidays are required.
• Schedules are completed 6 months at a time.
• Hours may vary based on the needs of the department.

Pay:

• Evening shift differential: $3.00/hr for hours after 3:00 pm.
• Night shift differential: $4.00/hr for hours after 11:00 pm.
• Weekend differential: $3.25/hr for hours on Saturday and Sunday.
